Regarding Proposition 8

I’ve been getting kind of frustrated lately with ignorant posts from friends/family on Proposition 8, as well as the idea that voting doesn’t matter any more, etc. The simple fact of the matter is that most of them don’t understand how the US or its laws/government even work. Then there’s the religious perspective, but I found a post elsewhere that summed up my feelings on that front:

One of the first things most religous people will say when they talk about homosexuals is “Well they’ll burn in hell” or something similar.

If you feel homosexuality is a sin, let me ask you something when was the last time you were without sin? Who is to say any of your sins is any less or worse? Before you condemn anyone to hell you better remember your own bible tells you not to cast any stones unless you yourself are without sin. So stop playing judge and jury for anyone but yourself. Use others to determine your own morality but its not your place to judge them.

I don’t argue with you on fighting what you see is imorality. I don’t argue the government saying they can marry. Because if it was up to a single group we would all be Catholic, Morman, Muslim, Jewish etc… Get the point?

Nothing pisses me off more than church types playing God and casting everyone to hell like they have a fucking clue. Jesus was able to forgive the people nailing his ass to the cross and mocking him the entire time do you really think he is incapable of forgiving some guy because he sucked a dick? Don’t pretend to understand the capability of God. You don’t have a fucking clue and neither do I.

Many things once considered sins are no longer. Keep that in mind.

end religoius rant

Now, many of the people who voted on Proposition 8 believed they were voting against their children receiving education about homosexual marriage in school, because it would… turn junior gay. Yeah. The measure was widely misunderstood by the very people tasked to vote on it. It serves as yet another fantastic reminder that direct democracy and its ills (ignorant voters, tyranny of the majority) is anathema to a free society in which all men are equal.

Blah

Empire Avenue stock falling. They say if you stay active it shouldn’t drop at all, but I don’t think it’s true!

It’s like you have to devote hours a day to make any progress.

Social Monster

I’ve got a ton of stuff I’m trying to keep up with right now. Rearranging my entire room, keeping up with Empire Ave. demands, I’m trying to refresh this blog, and now I’ve entered a contest for a Windows 7 Phone. I think my application would be immensely useful to millions of photographers, but we’ll see if others agree with me. I’m trying to get as many votes as I can, but the contest is going on for another month! Right now I’m in the #1 rank position, but we’ll see how long I can keep that up. Others are already closing in on me.
